Productivity Future Vision

Slimme merken zullen AR even slim gebruiken. Benieuwd of De Lijn zo'n slim merk is.

We zullen zien...

Is this the next step in Augmented Reality?

Delijn_ar_iphone

So how about this?

Augmented Reality has been out there for a little while and the technology keeps evolving. The Transformer campaign introduced face recognition, which made it possible to augment the virtual reality without a printed shape. Since then I think the possibilities are endless as long as you can tag a shape or a location as a reference. So instead of printing out a shape, how about using a shape that always looks the same and is already out there, such as a logo.

That would open up the technology for interesting partnerships with companies such as De Lijn, the Flemish public transport company who has busses driving all over the country. Imagine every Coke vending machine being a platform for an Augmented Reality application, as long as it has the Coca Cola logo on it.

It would also encourage advertisers to be really creative with this platform. The only reason people would pop up their iPhone is when there is something interesting to see. That means no old school hard selling, but valuable, meaningful content.
